What is Arts Integration (AI)?

Arts integration is implying arts to all academic subjects. Teachers can make lesson plans using art for language arts, social studies, math, and science.

 

What special contributions do the arts make to learning?

Special contributions that art makes to learning is engaging students in creative learning. Students get the chance to have a hands-on experience by simply viewing art and expressing feelings and thoughts.

 

How does arts-based education align with 21st century learning and work requirements?

Arts-based education aligns with 21st century learning by helping students become creative thinkers. Students in the 21st century need more than technology they need hands on experience. Many schools these days teach curriculum through technology but we need to go old school and bring out art supplies and construction paper. By students collaborating in groups and working with peers they can become successful team players.

 

Why is AI a recommended approach?

AI is a recommended approach because it motivates students to learn. Students can engage through art, music, and dance to become creative thinkers. All art forms are made to have meaning to every person. Any person can relate feelings through music, art, and dance. I believe this is a positive approach and students can become positive thinkers.

 

What contributions does integration make to learning?

Contributions that integration makes to learning is influencing students to express their own opinions. Students get to express opinions without being told their wrong and they get to collaborate with peers. Students get to hear other opinions and expand their imagination by seeing what other see or feel.

 

 

10 Benefits in developing an art based unit:

  • Multi grade collaboration- Children get to interact with different grade levels and work as a group in a project knowing everyone has an important task.
  • Children become tangible- Children have an actual and real experience where they can collaborate their skills and thoughts.
  • Pain less learning- The children’s learning experience helps them be engage in this fun learning experience. The subject engages the children and it helps them focus on their learning.
  • Creativity- Children express all their creative skills by expressing thoughts and ideas.
  • Problem Solving skills- Children solve problems by working together and finalizing the project.
  • Writing skills- Children work together to form dialogues and help each other write conversations.
  • Students get ready for real life experiences- By working together in projects, children learn how to work as a team. This helps children for future projects, sports, and even real job experience.  
  • Communication- Learning how to communicate makes everything easier and children learn to see other ideas and learn how to communicate with other students.
  • Self- confidence- Children take the risk of working on the project and this helps them become independent and successful.
  • Project skills- Children get to learn the importance of starting a project and helping everyone finish it on time. This helps children know how to form teams, work together, and communicate.
