What is the formal curriculum taught in schools?

Every single teacher has a curriculum they are teaching by for that time. A curriculum is a guide that described the course that is being taught and what the students will learn according to the grade level and subject. According to the text, a curriculum refers to the set of courses, and their content, offered at a school. If a person wants a better description of the curriculum then they can ask for lesson plans or activities, this can help a person get a better understanding of what is being taught and the learning outcomes. Curriculum used to be different in the 1660’s and 1960’s. Back in the day religion was taught in schools and also different electives. In the 1980’s the school system changed and new basic electives were brought in and also a lot of basic courses were now required to be taken. This was known as “Core curriculum.”

These types of classes are very good to have because it can reduce behavioral problems increase positive attitudes towards school. These types of classes can teach leadership, teamwork, persistence, diligence, and fair play. These types of activities can also enhance social skills and academic learning.
