What are the advantages and disadvantages of being a teacher?

One main advantage of teaching can be if you have a passion. A passion can be for young people, interest in a subject, and even an importance meaning in education. In a study in 2008, survey showed that two-thirds of educators were prepared for their career as teachers and the challenges they would face. Nine out of ten educators approved of their school curriculum as excellent. As well they thought they were getting paid a decent salary. In the other hand, there were also teachers that disagreed and thought they didn’t get paid enough. These teachers also didn’t like the school budgets and public criticism.

What are the satisfactions- and the complaints- of today’s teachers?

Most teachers that find satisfaction in their work are described as idealist. These teachers are dedicated to make a difference. In this world teachers are more respected that people in other careers besides doctors. People also have a high trust in teachers. There are teachers that get paid by performance or merit pay, this is when teachers get paid based on student performance to teacher salary. In other words, better teachers get paid more. Sometimes this can be a complaint because teachers who work in high poverty schools don’t have an option. Or even teachers who are based on student test scores.
