Throughout the course we were assigned different books to read, discuss with our group members, and then blog about.  The books read consisted of touchstone books, caldecott winners, multicultural/global literature, batchelder books (translation), challenged books, graphic novels, books celebrating neurodiversity, and common core exemplars - informational text.

The different books chosen from the variety of categories, pushed me to read books I otherwise would not have ever read.  Most of the books I read during the course are now some of my favorites.  I also gained a great knowledge about the different literacy awards, genres of books, and the importance of having an ecelectic variey of books in the classroom, including those that celebrate neurodiversity and cultural diversity.
